BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The latest tragic example, an 8-year-old boy who was having lunch with his father on Monday was allegedly killed by a repeat drunk driver.

The horrific crash happened in broad daylight...and a father and son were having lunch under a metal tent. That's when a suspected drunk driver drove through three fences, and in the process crashed into the family, ultimately killing the son.

The crash happened on California Avenue and Haley Street in East Bakersfield.

"When I saw him sitting down next to his dad, having a...he was drinking an orange Fanta...I remember exactly," said Jacqueline Avarca, who witnessed the crash.
