EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Jim Steed, a lifelong resident of Columbia County, will be the next county commissioner for District 2.
The Republican defeated Democrat Howard Johnson by 2,998 votes (54%) to 2,554 (46%) on Tuesday.
Steed, a third-generation Columbia County farmer, aims to bring his deep roots and extensive experience in public service to the county’s leadership.
Homestead exemptions pass in Richmond, Columbia counties
Voters in both Richmond and Columbia counties on Tuesday approved local homestead exemptions.
“Columbia County has been my family’s home for generations, and I’ve had the privilege of seeing it grow and evolve,” Steed said.
