CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Incumbent Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles was reelected Tuesday night in the 2025 municipal elections, entering her fifth term in office.
Mayor Lyles won 70.25% of the vote, followed by Terrie Donovan at 25.75% with 167 of the 169 precincts reported.
Local municipal elections were held across the Carolinas on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Lyles was reelected as the city’s mayor, defeating two other candidates, Republican Terrie Donovan and Libertarian Rob Yates.
Lyles defeated four other Democratic mayoral candidates in the 2025 primary election. She had more than 70% of the vote while the next closest candidate only had 12.3%.
The mayor first took office in 2017, defeating then-Republican incumbent Jennifer Roberts, and has since led the city.
