LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police says a suspect has been arrested two months after a homicide in the Newberg neighborhood.

On Saturday, Sept. 6, 48-year-old Mitchale Groves was shot and killed inside his apartment in the 5500 block of Lodema Way.

LMPD announced that 51-year-old James Bale was arrested in connection with the murder on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

According to the arrest warrant, both Groves and Bale were at the victim’s apartment when Bale heard a knock at the door and proceeded to retrieve his handgun that was on the table both men were sitting by.

Bale’s gun then went off and fired one shot into the victim’s left arm and chest. Groves was declared dead before he could be taken to the hospital.
