MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Federal officers in Memphis arrested a gang member who had been on the run since 2012, according to the United States Marshals Service.

The Marshals Service said members of the Memphis Safe Task Force arrested 34-year-old Diego Armando Redonda Mendiola, a member of the Surenos 13 gang.

Those federal officers captured Mendiola around 6 a.m. Tuesday, after executing a search warrant at Mendenhall and Shelby Drive. According to the U.S. Marshals, Mendiola had outstanding charges dating back to 2012, including attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and two charges of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Federal authorities said that Mendiola was deported to Mexico.
