DeWitt, N.Y. -- Democrat Max Ruckdeschel , who chairs the party’s Onondaga County committee, has won the supervisor’s job in DeWitt.
He easily won over his opponent, Republican Richard Kunz . Ruckdeschel secured 3,770 votes, or 65%. Kunz received 2,040 votes, or 35%, according to unofficial election results.
Ruckdeschel has served on the DeWitt Town Board since 2022.
Kunz ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the town board in 2020 and 2022.
The supervisor job was up for grabs after Ed Michalenko stepped down. He was first elected in 2007.
Ruckdeschel, 44, has said he sees the supervisor job as a full-time position and would look into reclassifying it as such. Even without that formal change, he said he’d treat running DeWitt as a primary job.
