JACKSON — Jackson Police have located the vehicle belonging to slain Hinds County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. James Dotson Jr., and identified a suspect wanted in connection with his killing.
On Tuesday afternoon, JPD, with assistance from the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, recovered Dotson’s gray 2020 Dodge Challenger in the parking lot of a north Jackson apartment complex. The vehicle was towed to the state Crime Lab to be processed for evidence.
Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for 26-year-old Ladarien Tyrese Jones, who is wanted for murder and auto theft. Police said Jones took Dotson’s vehicle from his home after the killing.
Dotson, 32, was shot and killed Sunday in the 1700 block of Dorgan Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his next of kin has been notified.
