PEARL RIVER – Orange and Rockland Utilities is mobilizing its emergency response workforce this evening in anticipation of high winds expected to impact the service area throughout the night and early morning hours.
The forecast calls for sustained winds up to 30 miles per hour and gusts reaching 60 miles per hour starting Wednesday night and continuing into early Thursday morning. The utility warns that these strong winds, combined with the current high tree foliage, could cause downed trees and tree limbs, which may interfere with the safe and reliable delivery of electric service.
To bolster its response, the company has secured 100 mutual aid workers who are prepared to handle emergencies for the duration of the storm. As always, don’t go near downed power lines.
