The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory at 12:41 p.m. on Wednesday valid from 9 p.m. until Thursday 8 a.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.
The weather service comments, "West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected."
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," explains the weather service. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects."
