CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 74-year-old man who shot and killed his daughter last week in Strongsville died Tuesday, authorities said.

Gene Tomcho of North Ridgeville died at MetroHealth Medical Center, where he had remained hospitalized since the Friday shooting. Tomcho suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He had faced murder and felonious assault charges in connection with the death of his daughter, Gina Guyer, 49, of Strongsville.

The shooting occurred at Guyer’s home in the 2200 block of Rock Creek Circle. When officers arrived, they found Tomcho still holding a handgun. Despite orders to drop the weapon, Tomcho turned the gun on himself and fired, according to authorities.

Guyer and her father were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. Guyer died hours after the shooting.
