Recommending a funding extension for the Co-Operative Care Centre (CCC) was not a decision that the region’s mayors took lightly.
At a joint services committee meeting that took over three hours, and following some confusion surrounding the final vote , the committee made the decision to extend the shelter’s funding until March 31.
While this is a significant milestone for the Co-Operative Care Centre and its supporters, the extension hasn’t been finalized yet – the counties council has to approve the decision made by the committee before it becomes official.
Since the vote was won by a narrow margin, there is a chance the decision could be vetoed by counties council.
