The fire occurred in a second-floor bathroom and remained confined there. However, the second floor did see some impact from the smoke, according to a release made by Ledyard Public Schools.
No students or faculty were injured during this incident, but they were dismissed early to ensure safety and allow for thorough cleaning and air-quality assessment, according to the superintendent’s release.
District officials will determine the status of Thursday's school day after evaluating the safety of the building.
