JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Construction of the new Pumphouse Road bridge over Highway 280 will require a temporary closure of the road one weekend in middle-November.

According to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), the work will require a closure of traffic so crews can safely install 100-foot beams across the width of Highway 280.

The closure will begin at 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14. ALDOT will close all US 280 lanes at Pumphouse Road. Eastbound lanes will remain closed through the morning of Monday, Nov. 17. Westbound lanes will reopen each morning at 5 a.m. before closing again at 11 p.m.

Officials said all lanes of Highway 280 will reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17.

The current Pumphouse Road Bridge and its eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp will remain
