BISMARCK — After a 40-year absence, Bismarck State College is bringing back its football team.

Interim President Dan Leingang, along with athletic director Myron Schulz, shared the announcement during a Wednesday news conference.

“This moment has been four decades in the making and truly marks the beginning of a new era for MysticNation,” Leingang said in a news release. “It’s exciting to see former BJC players return to campus to celebrate this announcement alongside our current students.”

The team will join the 14-team Frontier Conference , which includes teams such as Valley City State, Mayville State and Dickinson State. The league is part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
