APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - According to performance.gov , over 200,000 military personnel transition out of the armed services each year. In Appleton on Wednesday, there was a free event for veterans to get some updated headshots to succeed in the civilian world.

“It’s kind of daily reminder that if there’s people on this earth that go into something to fierce and so scary then I can get out of bed and go do whatever I want,” said Ryan Lonergan, Military Veteran Outreach Coordinator for Mortgage Nerds.

For veterans, transitioning out of the military can be incredibly difficult. Those who’ve gone through the process say it’s important to set yourself up for success as you create your life outside of your platoon. But this can be daunting to those who’ve served.
