ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Atlantic Beach's last remaining officer is stepping down next week due to "extenuating circumstances," he told town leaders Monday.

Lt. Andrew Valentine didn't offer any other details as to why he's leaving the force, and nobody on the town council asked questions of him at a public meeting.

Valentine said his final day will be Nov. 11. His departure comes amid a joint lawsuit filed last week by former police chief Carlos Castillo and Crazy Horse Saloon, which manages Thee Dollhouse -- a Highway 17 strip club that is Atlantic Beach's largest taxpayer.
