FORT SMITH -- The Fort Smith Board of Directors voted unanimously Tuesday against moving forward on a truck wash bay project that was projected to cost the city $1.67 million.
The project was part of the 10-year capital improvement plan for 2025, which the board approved in December, with a budget of $3 million for the project and an expected life of more than 20 years, according to a memorandum sent to directors ahead of Tuesday's meeting.
According to the memo, Steve Beam Construction placed a bid at $1.675 million, Beshears Construction at $1.755 million and Goodwin & Goodwin at $2.337 million.
During the discussion, several directors raised concerns about the project.
