SUFFOLK, Va. — A man is dead and two Suffolk police officers are on leave after an officer-involved shooting in Suffolk that happened Wednesday night.

Police said they received a notice to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle from Chesapeake at about 8:08 p.m. Wednesday.

Shortly thereafter, police located the vehicle in the 900 block of Ashley Avenue in Suffolk, according to a city press release. As two Suffolk police officers approached the vehicle, the man inside fired a shot, the press release states.

Officers returned fire. Suffolk Fire & Rescue arrived to provide emergency treatment, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
