LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Thursday marks the first full day of the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation into the deadly crash at Muhammad Ali International Airport.
The crash of UPS flight 2976 has left 12 people dead. Those totals are expected to rise.
The MD-11 plane was preparing to take off when its left engine fell off, NTSB official Todd Inman explained.
Crews were able to recover the cockpit voice recorder from the crash. Inman said the recorder, commonly known as a “black box,” had suffered thermal damage but no intrusion. The black box was sent back to Washington D.C. to be analyzed. Workers will create a preliminary transcript.
