Glasgow City Council has faced more than 2,300 court threats over homelessness since April this year.

The judicial review threats aiming to challenge the council in court were over people being placed in unsuitable accommodation for more than seven days or failures to find them a place to stay at night.

Currently there are 4,443 homeless people staying in temporary accommodation in the city and 1,961 of those are in hotels and B&Bs, which are deemed ‘unsuitable’.

Figures presented to a council meeting yesterday showed there were 2,365 threats of judicial review averaging around 337 threats per month between April and October.

Only 31 cases actually reached court – but no orders were made against the council as “these cases were accommodated where required” according to local authorit
