Three men have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a 21-year-old outside the Alamo Drafthouse in Woodbridge last month, authorities announced.
Detectives with the Prince William County Police Department said the arrests came on Tuesday, Nov. 5, after local and federal law enforcement executed multiple search warrants across Virginia, Washington, DC, and Arizona.
The investigation revealed the suspects “targeted or otherwise assisted in the confrontation” with Jasiya Ahmar Vaughn, 21, of Woodbridge, outside the theater on Oct. 2.
Vaughn was found on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at the scene.
A second victim, an 18-year-old man, suffered a non-life-threatening graze wound to the lower body, police said.
Police arrested:
-
Shawki Saah Fofanah, 23, of Dumfries who is charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
- George Kwasi Attakora, 22, of Stafford, who is charged as a principal in the second degree.
- Musa Abraham Sesay, 25, of Dumfries, who is charged as an accessory before the fact.
Each suspect was taken into custody following “simultaneous law enforcement operations” in Stafford County, Washington, DC, and Surprise, Arizona, police said.
Authorities noted that “the investigation was aided with the assistance of members of the FBI’s Phoenix field office, the Peoria Police Department, and the Surprise Police Department in Arizona, the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, and the US Marshals Service.”
All three men remain in custody. Court dates are pending.
The homicide happened shortly after 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 2 outside Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center. Police said the suspect fled immediately after the shooting, which investigators do not believe was random.
The investigation is ongoing.
