PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Two north Portland schools increased security on Thursday morning after reports of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the nearby community, according to Portland Public Schools.

Cesar Chavez School and George Middle School went into a “Secure the Perimeter” protocol, locking exterior doors and keeping all activities indoors, while classes continued as usual. The district said the move was taken “out of an abundance of caution,” and that students and staff remained safe.
