NORFOLK, Va. — The Federal Aviation Administration announced it will cut air traffic by 10% starting Friday across 40 high-volume markets.

13News Now spoke to an aviation analyst who said people should expect disruptions, and if it gets bad, it could be nationwide.

Senior Contributing Analyst at Teal Group, Bruce McClelland, said that while just 40 markets are listed, he believes any disruption could throw off the whole system. He said this is because airline scheduling is complicated.

If you change a flight time or cancel a flight in one market, there is the potential for the ripple effect to throw off crews in several markets, impacting airports nationwide.
