HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Police have arrested a man accused of preying on a child online after a social media chat turned into a criminal case.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, officers received an Internet Crimes Against Children tip that led to the investigation. Ty’Quavian Quentez Daniel, 23, from Huntsville, was identified as the suspect.

Daniel allegedly contacted a 16-year-old from Humble, Texas, on Instagram, soliciting explicit images and attempting to extort the victim by threatening to expose the photos unless more were sent.

About 5:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, Huntsville Police officers arrested Daniel for sexual extortion and electronic solicitation of a child. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may follow.
