NEWARK, Ohio — Newark City Schools confirms it is investigating an incident involving an educator at Liberty Middle School.
10TV News is not naming the educator because they are not facing criminal charges.
The district says it became aware of the incident on Oct. 31 and placed the educator on paid administrative leave on Monday.
10TV News obtained a copy of the educator's personnel records, including notice for a "pre-disciplinary meeting." That notice shows the educator is accused of bringing an assault rifle on school property on Oct. 22.
That notice states the rifle was in a case in the educator's car, and that the educator asked staff to come to their car to view it. According to the notice, some staff reported feeling uncomfortable.
