A 'dangerous and predatory' Teesside man raped and sexually abused a primary school aged child. Kane Povey, 24, offered the child chocolate before carrying out a severe level of sexual abuse.

Teesside Crown Court heard the victim told their parents explicit details of the sexual abuse describing it as "disgusting." Povey, from Stockton, pleaded guilty to rape of child; and causing a child to engage in sexual activity. He has no previous convictions.

Povey, who has grown his hair long in prison and used it to cover his face during the hearing, listened via videolink from Holme House prison as the victim's mother said: "You are a sex offender through and through.
