(KBTX) - Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for the fourth time this season following a 38-17 win at Missouri. Howell’s teammate, Daymion Sanford, was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Howell had five tackles (one for loss) and one strip sack, which forced a Missouri fumble. Howell’s sack total for the season is 10.5, tops in the SEC. His 10.0 solo sacks are tied for first in the nation. He’s just two sacks away from tying Myles Garrett’s 12.5 in the 2015 season.
“I think it’d be great for him,” head coach Mike Elko said on Howell potentially surpassing Garrett’s 2015 season. “I think it’d be great for our program. I don’t know that Myles would like it, but maybe some part of him would enjoy the program having success. He has
