DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Some Democrat senators have broken with their party in an effort to reopen the government, but details are still up in the air.
We’re on day 41 of the federal government shutdown, but the Senate voted 60-40 in favor of the newest budget bill deal Sunday night. The agreement still needs to pass the House of Representatives before the President signs off on it, but many Democrats are still voicing strong opposition.
Seven Democrats and an independent voted in favor of the deal, which includes reversing federal layoffs and a forthcoming vote on expiring Obamacare subsidies.
