STANTON COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - A 17-year-old boy from Clarkson was injured while hunting in northeast Nebraska on Saturday.
The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting that reportedly happened several miles southeast of Stanton at 10:25 p.m. The teen had been hunting racoons with an adult family member.
The sheriff’s office said the teen accidentally shot himself with his gun when getting out of a pickup to pursue a raccoon.
The teen was transported to FRHS by Norfolk Rescue where he underwent surgery and was later transferred to Children’s hospital in Omaha for further treatment.
The shooting is being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
