99-year-old driver critically injured bicyclist, 80, in NJ hit

A 99-year-old woman crashed her car into an 80-year-old bicyclist in New Jersey, leaving him critically injured as she fled, according to police.

The unidentified female driver was stopped soon after police were called to the crash on Saturday afternoon in Helmetta, New Jersey, a tiny suburb about 40 miles southwest of New York City.

Police discovered the elderly bike rider — who was also otherwise unidentified — with “serious bodily injuries” on Main Street, police said .

The 80-year-old bike rider was in critical condition and taken to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, cops said. REUTERS
