COLUMBUS, Ohio — A full day of testimony Wednesday focused on the actions of Blendon Township police officer Connor Grubb , who is facing murder charges in the death of Ta'Kiya Young in August 2023.

Young, who was six months pregnant at the time, was accused of stealing from a Kroger moments before the shooting.

According to court testimony, Grubb told state investigators he feared for his life when Young accelerated her car while he was standing in front of it.

“In his own words, Connor Grubb wrote in a statement to BCI after the shooting that he believed he was going to be seriously injured or killed,” said Bureau of Criminal Investigation Special Agent Kyle Douglass, who led the investigation, as he read from Grubb’s voluntary statement during his testimony.
