A man was fatally shot inside a parked car in Rockland on Tuesday and authorities were searching for the person who carried out what appeared to be a targeted shooting, police said.

Around 9:35 p.m., police responded to a 911 report of gunshots in the area of 75 Deering Square and found 29-year-old Darnel Andre of Rockland, who had been shot multiple times, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Rockland’s police chief, Nicholas P. Zeoli, said in a statement.

Andre was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

“This does not appear to be a random act of violence but a targeted attack on the victim,” officials said.
