A former Parkland County school bus driver is waiting to learn his fate after admitting to collecting images of children being sexually abused.

Jared Corbett pleaded guilty in an Edmonton courtroom Thursday to a single count of possession of child pornography, a year and a half after officers with Alberta’s anti-child sex abuse unit arrested him at his parents’ home in Stony Plain .

Corbett was set to begin trial Thursday, but instead admitted to one of the three counts he faced. The 36-year-old remains free on bail and spoke only to confirm to the judge that he understood the consequences of his guilty plea.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation unit began investigating Corbett in October 2023 after learning an unknown person had been sharing
