Hero abseiling coastguards have rescued a dog who plunged nearly 100ft down a cliff in Shetland. ‌

Rescue crews rushed to Heylor on the island at around 11.10am after receiving a report that two-year-old Collie, Whisp, had fallen over a cliff. ‌

The pup was seen around 98ft down the cliff, on a rocky ledge. ‌

The position of Whisp meant it gaining access to him from the seaward side was impossible.

Coastguard rescuers were forced to abseil down the clip to retrieve the dog and reunite it with its owner.

Luckily, Whisp was remarkably returned unscathed and appeared happy to be back with its family. ‌
