COLUMBIA — Rescuers used remotely operated cameras to find a 12-year-old boy who was lost in the Columbia stormwater system Thursday night, officials said Friday.
The Columbia Fire Department, Police Department, Electric Utility, Stormwater Utility and Sewer Utility collaborated to rescue the boy . Dispatchers received a report of the missing boy just after 5 p.m., and rescuers got access to where the boy was located around 8:15 p.m. They pulled him out of the stormwater system around 9:40 p.m., according to the Columbia Fire Department.
Officials said they believe the boy went into a box culvert on West Parkway Drive and was inside the stormwater runoff system. The search and rescue effort brought a large presence of emergency vehicles to the area of West Parkway Drive and West Broadw
