MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that happened during a security motorcade for Vice President JD Vance.

The crash happened Friday evening on East Lamar Alexander Parkway at Merritt Road in Alcoa and involved a THP trooper and an officer with the Maryville Police Department, according to a spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
Officials said the Maryville officer was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said the officer, who was not identified, is in critical condition.
