ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — An officer-involved shooting in Elizabeth City this summer was justified, according to a North Carolina District Attorney.
The Elizabeth City police chief, Eddie Graham, shared that District Attorney Jeffrey Cruden conducted a review of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation's report of the July shooting. After the review concluded, Cruden determined the shooting was "lawful and appropriate given the circumstances."
The Elizabeth City Police Department said they were called to the area of Hughes and Halstead boulevards about 12:40 p.m. on July 20. The call was in reference to a subject armed with a weapon, a press release from the police department said.
