CHARDON, Ohio — A former coach and athletic administrator at Hawken School and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison after previously pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual battery.

Geauga County Common Pleas Judge Carolyn Paschke also ordered Devin Hernandez, 30, to serve five years of probation after his release from prison, and to register as a Tier III sex offender for life.

Hernandez pleaded guilty in September to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old Hawken student over several months in 2023, when he was a strength and conditioning coach at the school. Prosecutors said the conduct occurred between March and May 2023.

Hernandez originally faced five counts of sexual battery. Three were dismissed as part of his plea agreement.
