GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Newly-released surveillance video from a Grand Rapids Walgreens captured a suspected drunk driver smashing into the store's entrance earlier this month.

The video was obtained by 13 ON YOUR SIDE through a Freedom of Information Act request, and the Kent County Sheriff's Office released it Tuesday.

The video shows the front entrance of the store quiet before the car crashes into it around 2 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. The doors shatter and the car nearly comes to rest in the store's vestibule.

The store was closed at the time of the crash and no one was inside.

Deputies said that units responded to the Walgreens, located at 5100 E Beltline Avenue NE, shortly after the crash. The driver had fled the scene but was quickly found by investigators.
