An alleged Islamic State fanatic has told a jury he felt 'scared' after being threatened by a man who said he was 'from the mujahideen'.

Tunisia-born former restaurateur Walid Saadaoui told a court he was befriended by a man outside a mosque to whom he he gave money so he could get home to Yemen only to learn later he was in Syria and wanted more money as he had been hurt.

The defendant, who denies terror charges, went into the witness box on Tuesday afternoon and he told a jury at Preston Crown Court he received a 'threat message' from the man and that he tried to slow contact with the man, telling him he was busy holding down two jobs as the owner of a new restaurant and an entertainer at a Haven holiday park.
