A five-alarm fire that tore through three homes in Roselle on Monday evening left dozens of people displaced and injured one firefighter, officials said.

The fire erupted on the 300 block of East 9th Avenue. Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of a home at around 6:30 p.m.

Firefighters responded to a report of a house fire and found the blaze spreading into two other homes, Roselle Fire Chief Christopher Laba said in a statement.

Laba said crews used multiple hose lines to bring the fire under control as it rapidly spread, with assistance from several surrounding municipalities.

A firefighter suffered a minor arm injury, officials said. No other injuries were reported.
