NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch has agreed to remain in her job under incoming Mayor Zohran Mamdani, both parties announced Wednesday.
Tisch said in a statement she was “ready to serve with honor” as Mamdani’s police commissioner “because he and I share many of the same public safety goals for New York City: lowering crime, making communities safer, rooting out corruption, and giving our officers the tools, support, and resources they need to carry out their noble work.”
Mamdani said he admired Tisch’s crackdown on corruption in the NYPD and how she has driven down crime in the year since she became commissioner under Mayor Eric Adams.
