PHOENIX – Part of the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in Mesa was closed after a crash Wednesday morning, authorities said.

As of around 9 a.m., westbound Loop 202 traffic was forced to take the McDowell Road/Gilbert Road off-ramp ahead of the crash site.
The crash involved a single vehicle that spun out and hit a wall, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The driver sustained critical injuries.
The Arizona Department of Transportation advised motorists to expect delays or seek alternate routes.
There was no estimated time for reopening.
