NEW YORK (WABC) -- Two women headed to LaGuardia Airport found themselves with the most New York of all hitchhikers -- a rat.

The rodent climbed out of the hood of the car on Nov. 11 and apparently decided to ride the rest of the way to the airport.

Meilani Felix was driving while her friend captured the pair screaming in disbelief.

The rat eventually fell off when the driver came around the corner.

The women joked in a video posted to TikTok that the rat must have "heard Queens has better cheese."
