MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The City of Monroe addressed changes to the taste and smell of its water supply.
The city said the Monroe Water System uses a surface water treatment facility that gets its primary supply from the local bayou. The bayou’s water changes with the seasons, causing a temporary difference in taste and odor for Monroe water customers.
The city said that despite the changes, the water is “completely safe to drink and continues to meet all state and federal water quality standards.”
According to the city, they are working to offset these temporary changes by taking the following steps during the water treatment process:
Optimizing chemical feed rates
Increasing monitoring frequencies
