MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. – West Virginia Division of Highways work crews are expediting repairs to a small bridge that partially collapsed in Monongalia County.

WVDOH District 4 Manager Earl Gaskins said an overweight truck apparently crossed a small bridge at the beginning of Birchfield Run Road near Morgantown and broke through the bridge deck. WVDOH engineers closed the bridge on Tuesday.

But plans are already in place for emergency bridge repairs. District 4 work crews intend to start work Thursday to replace the bridge deck.
