LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Fifteen days after the devastating UPS plane crash, crews are still working to clean up the site, including the impacted waterways.
WAVE News got an inside look from the Louisville Metro Sewer Department on some of those efforts on Wednesday afternoon.
MSD officials said around 95% of materials spilled during the plane crash have been collected, including over 900,000 gallons of oily liquid.
“Never quite experienced something like this before, but we do train all the time on emergencies and emergency response,” said Wes Sydnor, MSD’s Chief of Government and Public Affairs.
Sydnor told WAVE crews began their work about an hour and a half after the plane crash, which was crucial.
