LIHUE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Nov. 19 is World Toilet Day, and to celebrate, the Kauai Department of Water is giving away three water-saving toilets.
World Toilet Day raises awareness about the challenges and serious health consequences associated with poor sanitation in developing countries.
Officials say toilets account for more water usage than any other fixture, representing around 30 percent of total household water consumption.
The department will hold a grand prize drawing for three toilets recognized by WaterSense , a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency program that identifies water-efficient products that perform as well as or better than conventional models.
