BAY CITY, MI — More than three years after the fact, a Bay City mother has been sentenced to jail and probation for throwing her infant son and delivering a serious brain injury in the process.

Bay County Circuit Judge Joseph K. Sheeran on Monday, Nov. 17, sentenced 28-year-old Bailey R. Sian to 182 days in jail with credit for two days already served. Sian is to serve three years on probation upon her release.

Sian is not to have contact with minors while on probation. She no longer has parental rights to the son she injured.

Sian in October pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree child abuse, punishable by up to two years’ incarceration and five years of probation. In exchange, the prosecution dismissed a 10-year felony of second-degree child abuse.
