FAIRVIEW, W.Va. (WV News) — The condition of three miners injured in a Wednesday accident at the Loveridge No. 22 coal mine's Miracle Run portal is still not known, according to According to Marion County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management Director Chris McIntire.
On Thursday afternoon, McIntire said that while his department knows that two of the three miners were transported to WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, the hospital has not released information about their condition.
McIntire said the Wednesday morning incident occurred when two pieces of machinery collided in the mine.
McIntire said that the county receives 911 calls related to mining accidents "a few times a year."
"We've had several incidents at the mines over the years," he said.
